Welcome

 Dear Friends—

Welcome to the Gila Friends Meeting Quaker education blog.  That’s a mouthful, but what we plan is really pretty simple:  a convenient place for us to exchange ideas about what it means to us to live a life guided by Quaker principles.

The purpose of this blog is to help us to:

  1. Deepen our Quaker practice,
  2. Keep the Gila Friends connected during these often isolating times, and
  3. Provide outreach to others who might be interested in the ideas of Friends.

The creators of this blog are:  Kristina Kenegos and Sandra Purnell. We will introduce ourselves more fully in the future.  For now, just know that Kristina is a long-standing Quaker and a member of Gila Friends Meeting;  Sandra is a searcher who has been interested in Quaker thinking since encountering the AFSC during the Vietnam Era.

Some guidelines to make this work for everyone:  As is practice during Quaker meeting, we encourage you to respond to others on this site from your experience.  We would like this to be a deeply educational, even transformative, collaborative experience. Considering the kinds of events that are going on in the world right now, there is cause for soul-searching; Quaker history provides us with many examples from the past that can provide inspiration.  With that said, the following guidelines apply:

  1. Be respectful.  Remember that this is a closed public forum.  Your thoughts, although we encourage you to be personal and authentic, can potentially be shared in the wider sphere of the internet and the Blogger site is in fact part of Google's network. We cannot guarantee your privacy.  Everyone should be aware that, in New Mexico, every person is a mandatory reporter regarding suspected child abuse.
  2. We ask that you do not copy or forward words from this site without the express permission of the author.
